The Speech House Hotel – A Family Break in the Forest of Dean this Summer


Why not head the to Forest of Dean this Summer. Our family rooms are perfect for families looking to base themselves in the Forest of Dean and the surrounding area. Join us for a family break and ensure a memorable experience for you and your family. There’s so much to do around the Forest of Dean, it’s a great place to spend a few days on a family-friendly break!

Our Courtyard family rooms offer a comfortable double bed and two single beds. Our Main House family room, (advertised as a Junior Suite) boasts a Super King bed and a in a separate adjoining room a fold out sofa bed, with the option to put up a fold out single too. All hotel bedrooms offer either a full bathroom en-suite or a shower room en-suite with complimentary toiletries, HD TV, Free Wifi and tea/coffee making facilities.

*Please note we do not have a lift within the hotel and the main house family room is on the second floor. 


At The Speech House Hotel we offer a range of dining options suitable for all the family, including the furry four legged friends. We are renowned for our variety of delicious meals and light snacks which always pleases our guests. Our chefs use locally sourced ingredients and can prepare foods to any dietary requirements. Menu options include a varied childrens’ menu, and vegetarian and vegan dishes.

The Speech House offers a great location for a family break. Situated right in the heart of the Forest of Dean, there are family-friendly activities right from the doorstep. There are so many free things to do like, grab your bikes and head out on the Family Cycle Trail, stroll across the road to Beechenhurst’s kids activity area or try their new Superworm Trail, or head to the nearby river Wye for some wildlife spotting otters and kingfishers, plus time for a paddle with the dog!

A few minutes drive away are some great family attractions including Puzzlewood (as seen on TV), Perrygrove Railway, Dean Heritage Centre, Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo or high wire adventures at Go Ape. Other family-friendly activities in the area include archery, kids crafts, rock climbing, cookery school, canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding on the River Wye, falconry, or bird and animal watching “on safari” with a local expert guide.
