Afternoon Tea served daily 3-5pm* in our light and spacious Orangery
Afternoon Tea at the historic Speech House is a suitably traditional affair with fine bone china, a tiered cake stand of indulgent treats, and a selection of fine teas to choose from.
The perfect excuse for a get together – whether that’s for a baby shower, hen party, birthday or anniversary celebration.
* on a Sunday we serve the Afternoon Tea at 4:00pm-6:00pm.
If you’re planning on joining us for Afternoon Tea on a Saturday, please call ahead to check whether there is a wedding on at the hotel, and where we will be serving Afternoon Tea to avoid disappointment.

Looking for a special birthday or anniversary gift? Why not give a Speech House gift voucher that can be redeemed for a lovely treat of traditional Afternoon Tea here at the historic Speech House.
Unfortunately due to the Government increases on business rates and National Insurance for Hospitality businesses, we will have to put the price up to £21.50 per person for Afternoon Tea from July 1st 2025.
Terms and Conditions
Unfortunately, we are unable to take bookings in the Orangery. Availability is on a first come, first served basis. Afternoon Tea for parties of 6 or more can be booked and will take place in The Carolean Room or Verderers restaurants if the Orangery is busy. A deposit of £5 per person will be requested at the time of booking for groups of 6 or more people. You might also wish to book an Outdoor Dining Den for your Afternoon Tea. A non refundable deposit of £10 per hour for Den Hire is required. Please contact Reception to book.
